I still look at it as though I have spent most of my life living abroad when really it was “just” my childhood.  The funny thing is I feel more foreign here in surburbia than I ever did around the world.  I’m confused that those with so much are often the ones that give and share the least.

I have lots of sides to me and often confuse the people that don’t know me.  But those close to me know that I follow my heart – ALWAYS.

I’m good at a lot of things but never the best.  I used to want to be the best at something so badly.  My brother once said, “You are.  You are the best at trying.”  As adult, I’ll take that.

The material list

I always wanted 4 kids.
I never planned on living on the US.
I always thought I would be living in Africa raising my kids.
I never envisioned a partner when I thought about raising kids.
I don’t have much of a sense of humour.
I went to 12 schools in 12 years.
I called Riyadh, Saudi Arabia home for most of my childhood.
I miss smoking.
I love to cook.
I wish I was awesome and crafty but I can never finish a project.

Wish no longer, I'll help you finish, as long as you can deal with my slightly annoying scene of humor :)

So let's fill the house with all the kids and tackle some fun things!

You are gifted at wanting what you have….especially with your gifted children.
You always planned to live with intention.
There are many different Africas…raising children of the simpler places in the world is often how I would describe your family.
The vision of a parenting partner comes with the years of togetherness…of course you never dreamed up the person who grows along side you in parenting!
A sense of kindness trumps a sense of humor most days.
12 schools, 12 years, 12 places to learn, then 13 places, then 14 places and the learning school of life continues.
Home is where your heart is…it helps a lot when your family is there, too!
Your health doesn't miss smoking even if your 'cool' side and your heart does.
Cooking is creativity, and you would enjoy reading The Rise of the Creative Class.
If not awesome, then you must be awe-inspiring…if not crafty, then you must be clever.

    Keep writing.
